I have never played a Framus amp but saw one on Ebay and noticed that the amp had a tiny little power transformer, im no amp tech but doesnt that mean that the amp doesnt get as much juice as other amps? I mean, when i look in the back of a Krank or Bogner or Egnater and other high gain amps its usually pretty impresive and once you plug in theres that powerful punch from the higher voltages that i love. A lot of boutique amp lovers seem to really be into the Framus amps and i want to try one out real bad. How are they getting away with the small tranformers? Or am i totally missing something (Im sure i am)...
Also, how would you compare Framus amps to similar high end amps? Just curious about your personal opinions.

Finishing up specs on my warmoth mahonany L5 and had narrowed p90s down to Lfrahlins and SDs- Called Frahlin today and told him what I was up to- He noted that low noise noise was a requirement and suggested that I consider his split singles saying their sound is very p90 ish-
I was pretty set on p90 pups and definately need that sound, but after all it was LF and I figured I should see if anyone has expereince with these yet?
Anyone that wants to read more can look here, but was looking for thicker sound than my strats, but more bite than my 2hum gtrs-

I have a parts tele. Swamp ash body, maple/rosewood neck. What's the best match up for a neck bucker with something in the bridge that can fit in the standard tele bridge routing? I looked over the SD site and it would seem the alnico pro would be a good possibility for the neck bucker. What does SD make that would be a good match, both tonally and output? Thanks.
You could go with the Hot Rails for tele for the bridge and an Alnico II pro should work well together.
I was thinking of doing a Pearly Gates in the neck of my MIJ 69 RI Thinline. I think that the mismatched coils and the alnico II magnet would give a fat, yet clear tone to a tele's neck slot.

A local guy is blowing 'em out on evilBay. He lives about five minutes from my office.hmmm, Warmoth variax replacement body and neck, perhaps?
Even though I'm not sure I'd want one of those, I do really like the clean design. I wonder if you could quot;hackquot; a Distortion into the bridge?
MAybe anything that's strong enough to go through the pickguard?

Hi Guys! I have a Carvin Bolt with a walnut body that came with a dimarzio evolution in the bridge position. I did not like this pickup so I tried a JB. Didn't like that pickup either. Switched to Alnico pro 2. I really like this pickup, with one exception. My low E string does not quot;cutquot; like the other strings. I have this pickup on a 3-way switch for single-parellel-series and I love the sound in all positions. Its just my low E sounds bland compared to the other strings. I have messed with the height adjustment and really couldn't improve it to where I want it. Is there another pickup that would cut better in the low end (without being boomy)? I was thinking possibly the jazz. But I don't want to lose the good points of the AP2. Sorry about the long winded note.
if its metal go distortion, if classic rock go with something like pearly gates or something around that
try a Pearly gates or Seth. The PG has more cut all around and the Seth more honk, but both are similar to an APH

ok ok, my ferraglides arrived yesterday from martinsixstringcustoms (awesome trader btw, this is my second graphtec purchase from him already )
the tonal change. mad. i have no experience with the original black graphtechs, but the wound strings are twangy and percussive - i'd say brighter and clearer than the stock POS strat saddles, but its a very well-tapered 'stratty' twang - you hear it and think 'thats either a strat or a tele'.. they have totally bought out the best in my neck and middle pups - i never used to like position 2, now i can't get out of it - as a reference, 'the rain song' by led zeppelin. at about 5'.10'' onwards, there's a very percussive, aggressively played twangy backing line played. this was missing with the old saddles, and it's here now.
im trying to get other examples of this kinda 'twang' into my head.. franz ferdinand use the same percussive style in most of their lead playing, and i prefer the sound of my strat .. it sounds more like what they're trying to acheive..

For anyone who saw me whining in my 3 nightmare threads this is the guitar that is the source of tne angst.
Mahogany back(2 piece),sides and neck with a spruce top-all solid.It has a rounded Florentien cutaway,is electric,(balanced and unbalanced outs),with a tuner built into the control plate.
Now it's gonna get an ebony board and bridge,Feitenized and Sperzels.
The internal decal is going to get doctored to include the word Nightmare BUT,that's not all.....
Into the board it's going to get an inlay of a child sleeping with nightmares above it's head and a moon in the clouds at the top.This is going to be my first L.E.D. guitar.I'm also going to see about adding a switch to activate the tuner when the guitar isn't plugged in.If I can I'm going to do a new rosette of ghosts,but that will be determined by spacing.
