New Mesa Single Recto Review.
I finally went to the closest Mesa dealer and tried out a Mesa. I ended up walking out with a Single Recto. I'm really impressed with the Mesa and the longer I have it and the more I read the manual the more I find out about this amp.
I have to say that all of the comparisions between Mesa and Marshall are crazy. They truely are completely different amplifiers. I'm going to say that out of the TSL I own and the Single Recto, the Single Recto is my favorite. I still love the TSL, but the Mesa covers it all.
One of the biggest difference is the clean. The TSL has some decent clean (actually liked it alot), but the Mesa is Excelent- Everything sounds so close together and it sounds more 'in-place' and lively. I guess like a slightly compressed sound but completly touch sensitive. The Marshall was kind of darker and fatter on the clean, where as the Mesa is more chimy and musical to my ears - think fender-ish.

epiphone sg tuning troubles
I picked up a VG condition g-400 deluxe. I've had trouble getting the thing to intonate so I used a small file to clean up the groves in the saddles. (Has anyone been able to put the gotoh tune-o-matic bridge on these guitars? It looks like it might fit...) The intonation improved with the filing of the saddle grooves. The A amp; D just don't want to quite intonate as close as the others.
Now I'm still having trouble with the strings flattening, especially the G string. I used some very fine sand paper and expanded the slot in the nut for the G slightly to remove the noticeable ping of the string catching while tuning. That part worked but it still wants to go flat as do a couple other strings at times. Perhaps it's still the nut or its the tuners. These seem to be the 18:1 romantics and I wouldn't expect them to have tuning troubles over several strings. Perhaps Epi has contract for tuners that look like romantics but the guts are sub par to keep the cost down? Or else I got a bad set. The G amp; B strings stay flat after a large bend which leads me to think that the strings are catching just enough in the nut to be trouble. It's the basic black plastic looking nut that came on the guitar.
Earlier today just sitting for a few minutes the A amp; D had gone flat and nothing had been done to it besides justings sitting in the environment of the apartment. I don't think it's that quot;coolquot; in here to have 2 day old strings do that in just a 15 minute period...but maybe. I'm puzzled.

untapping a tapped tele bridge pickup
hello, can anyone tell me how to make a tapped quot;hot for telequot; bridge pickup
a regular single coil untapped pickup?(3 wires, red, white and black)..
Simple, just don't use the tap lead. The little sheet that comes in the pickup box should tell you which is which.

Hamer Californian (Korea) Pickup Suggestion
Hey all! I trust all are well on the board.
I recently acquired a Hamer Californian (Korean made). I purchased if off of eBay on a whim and got it yesterday. I have fallen in love with it (which is a nice surprised since I read some rather questionable things about this axe).
Anywho, the pickups on this axe are quot;Duncan Designedquot;. I love the bridge pickup but the neck pickup leaves much to be desired. That said, I'm shopping for a new neck pickup.

Anyone know a builder that makes necks to fit Jackson guitars and that will intonate?
Not sure where to look. I've heard warmoth's necks don't fit and/or intonate on jackson bodies. There has to be builder out there that makes jackson replacement necks. Let me know if any of you guys know someone.

I like my amp sound better quot;off axisquot;
With high gain. When I sit directly in front of it, it can sometimes be harsh. If I move a little left, right or above, it mellows it out just a tad and sounds great. Not just my current amp... any amp. I remember a time I would toss a pillow near bottom half of the speaker, and I liked that, too!
Am I wierd?
