Anyone try the EMG EXP booster?
I have one in my steinberger GR4R and wow that thing adds some beef to the already fat 85. Its like a tone control or somthing but all the way up it boosts the low and high end.
Yeah I have used one! I have have also used ans EMG spc also! The SPC makes the pickup sound even hotter!!! The EXG without a doubt adds beef!!!

My uncle says he has a holiday guitar, help me find out what it is.
Hes trying to tell me its a telecaster, but from how hes describing it, its got to be a les paul body/pickup configuration.
He thinks a telecaster is what you call any guitar with a single cut.Other than it having 2 humbuckers an 4 knobs, I know nothing else about it. Or it sounds like he was describing humbuckers, he says it was made in like 1965 or something.
Maybe a Telecaster Custom (could be wrong with the name)? 2 Humbuckers, 4 knobs, singlecut? The problem is those were made, if I'm not mistaken, in 72.

My les paul keeps breaking high e's!!!
Hahaha well its not my les paul its me that keeps breaking them...but im suspecting it might have something to do with sharp saddles or something. It keeps breaking high e's and b strings, and sometimes g strings. Very frequently...this high e lasted about a week i think! And im not bending like crazy or playing really overly hard.
Some people i know get graphite saddles in their les pauls...is this meant to help this?
Oh yeah, and its breaking at the saddle too, hence all the saddle talk.

Maple Necks Vs Rosewood Necks
I am 50/50 on both. I cannot decide.
What do you guys think?
You must be talking bout fretboards, both my guitars have maple, and I love it, but my friends BC Rich has rosewood, and I like it too.

Help me choose colors
I'm replacing all the pickups, switches, pot and knobs. The pup's will be black, so what color guard and knobs should I shoot for. The tuners and locking nut are chrome. What do you think will look good?Get a mirror guard and knobs.
White Necks and Zebra bridge pickups. =)
keep the guard. Get chrome barrel knobs with abalone inlays, from stewmac.com . black switch tip.

Difference in 50's and 60's neck?
I played a LP standard yesterday at Guitar Center. Wow did it sound amazing!! It had the 50s neck.. They had the same axe with the 60s neck, but do to time restraints, I didnt get to play that one.I did feel the neck . I was expecting a big dif, but I really couldnt feel any.. One felt alittle deeper into my palm.. Which is the most like a new studio in shape??Thankss
The 50’s Standard neck is very close in shape to the ‘59 Rounded neck found on the LP Studio models. Play both the 50’s/60’s necks for a while- you will begin to notice a significant difference. I’m not a fan of the shallow 60’s/slim taper necks, though you might find that they suit your hands/style.
The 50s' is just thicker

Jackson.... or?
Well, during the next couple a months im getting myself a gift( because im working) either a new amp or guitar, i already made a thread for an amp awhile back. Now per say i buy a guitar, it will be my guitar that is more suited for metal(Iron Maiden, Jag Panzer to anything from Pantera to Candlemass). I am thinking of a Jackson of some sort, pup configuration will most likely be HxH or HSS. What is a good choice for this kind of guitar?(I want a Floyd of some sort too)
EDIT: Just thought about a Godin Freeway Floyd, anyone try tone of these? if there as good as my godin, it would be a killer floyd guitar.
Charvel!

Tele Pickup
Has anyone replaced a stock tele bridge pickup with a single coil for strat?
Although they mount differently I'm sure someone has, I want to put in a JB Jr. - I don't want the hot rail for tele, I have the lipstick pickup in the neck and love it.
Thanks
welcome to the forum!!

Fender Pro Junior and Blues Junior...
Hi!
I'm looking for a low wattage amp to play at home. The chapest options I've found are this two little beasts. It's funny there isn't much difference in price between both and Blues Junior has more features that the PJ. Can someone explaing me the advantages and disadvantages of both? And, are they worth buying?
Thanks!

Staggered vs. Flat
Whats the difference for strat pick ups? What does it mean? Just that the pole pieces are staggered/higher in the middle of the pup? I'm a single coil nooob!!!!!
It's just the hieght of the poles. With staggerd pickups you get louder mids and slightly louder mids than highs. I like staggard for blues and flats for jazz and rock.
It's to to with fingerboard radii originally. Early guitars had quite a camber on them so the pole pieces were staggered to give an even volume across the strings ( string gauge also had a hand in it, as did the old wound 3rd). Nowadays the neck radius tends to be flatter so not as much need for the stagger. However there is a tonal difference between the 2, but there are more qualified people in this forum to explain that little beauty!!

How do you amplify your Line6 Pod xt Live?
Im thinking about getting one and I want to amplify it with a crate powerblock using it just as a power amp...does anyone use this setup? does it work well? thanks
bump
Into 2 Atomic Amps in stereo. It kills! I also use it for FX only on a few other amps that are simplistic in form, like a Marshall 1959 SLP. Works great!
