Twangiest Strat Pickup (middle possition)
I love my Fender Strat with the singles and hot rails, however the middle single coil sounds too...quot;in-the-middlequot; to me. I keep the neck single with the tone at 1-2 and the middle with the tone at 10 to go from 'bassy single coil' to 'twangy single coil' by flipping my switch but that middle pickup just doesn't twang how i want it to. The bridge pup is a Hot Rails which refuses to twang but I'm happy with how it sounds so i don't wanna mess with it.

tube recommendations please....
i need to replace the tubes in my Marshall DSL100 head. it's got 4 EL34's and 4 ECC83's in it. i play heavy rock with a good deal of distortion, but also like occasionally use a lighter, more 'vintage' sounding distortion as well as the occasional clean channel riff. i also have played in really heavy metal and grind bands with very saturated distortion sounds, so i'm looking for something that could accomodate that sound as well.

Mic pre's for home recording
How essential is a good microphone preamp if I want to be doing home recording? It will be nothing fancy, very basic: Amp gt; SM57 gt; CPU soundcard
I also read that having a mixer in between the mic and cpu will help improve the levels. Would a mic preamp work better for this purpose, or will that cheapo mixer from Behringer do the trick? Thanks Eric

Serious discussion on pups and opinions on pups?
I see here that many including myself take to heart the opinions of others on what pup to try or what pup to avoid.
I wanted to ask lets say one guy here LOVES the JB(this had to be the example due to the fact it is the most popular! )

One big Multi-FX or a bunch of pedals?
I know that right after I get my 4x12, I am going to want to get an update on my effects. My question is should I get something like a Digitech GNX3000 since it is pretty easy to use and could be used for recording (I did not like the Line6 Pod Live). Or should I just stick to a bunch of individuals pedals since I do not use too many effects (Delay, Chorus, Flange, Wah, Tuner, Hush Pedal).

John (Stratdeluxer)
Are you doing anything with Boss GE-7's? I've got one that's noisy, and is missing a slider cap. Just wonderin' bro.

Relic thought
you know how guys always joke about pulling a guitar behind a truck to relic it. Well, I live real close to a 7 mile long road that's nothing but rocks. No asphalt. I'm thinking about maybe buying me one of them cheapie 100 dollar guitars (sx, j.reynolds, johnson, agile, arbor, crap like that) and towing it down this road. Of course all of these bodies are made out of basswood, so I'm gonna be expecting some HUGE chunks missing. Whatcha think?
*if anyone wants to donate a guitar for this purpose, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll pay shipping. You can even have it back when I'm done.
