Not matter which way I try to format the cells to take a date (i.e. ##/##/##)
when I enter the date needed (i.e. 061405) it comes out either 19## or 202#.

Couple of things...
First quot;##/##/##quot; is not an Excel date format. Try quot;mm/dd/yyyyquot; or
something similar.

Second 061405 is not the same as 06/14/2005. The former is 61405 days
from 1/1/1900 or 2/12/2068. Enter your date with the slash marks to
avoid confusing Excel.

Not without using VBA code.

See Chip Pearson's site for methods.

The idea is not to have to enter the /

By using the format ##/##/## when I enter 6 numbers they came out the
numbers with the / in between them.

I have on previous spreadsheets been able to do this. But for some reason,
this sheet will not accept the format.

Confusing!
