Trying to edit a work sheet, or create a new one, as soon as I click on a
cell, it is shaded, and then shades every cell wherever I move the mouse. As
soon as I click on a cell, I can no longer click on file, edit, etc., and
cannot even close the worksheet or excel. I have to use cntrl, alt, del to
close the program. This happened about 2 weeks ago. I have reinstalled
office; i have downloaded all available updates; nothing changes. The
worksheets I created work fine on a different computer - it just seems to be
this computer that has the problem, and everthing on it was fine until 2
weeks ago. I haven't made any changes, other than updating virus protection,
firewall, etc. Would welcome any help or insight to the problem. Thanks
Hi Try this.
Go to start-gt;run.Type excel /safe.Click OK.This opens excel in safe mode
without
any startup add-inns or macros. Now open the workbook in safe mode and see if
the menu options work.If they work it means there might be a block of code or
an add-in at startup causing the problem.

Ambrish.
