when I copy using the paste links function I lose the format. How do I paste
links and keep the format?

You've got to do it *twice*.

Paste Special - click quot;Linksquot;,
Right click again - Paste Special - click quot;Formatsquot;.

Just to add, if you change the quot;sendingquot; cell's format, the quot;receivingquot; cell's
format won't change.
