I formated a group of cells to be dates seclecting the quot;datequot; category and
then selecting quot;03/14/01quot; type. But when I key 120199 in one of the
formatted cells it converts it to 02/02/29. When I key 120199 I expect it to
display 12/01/99. Why does Excell convert it? And how do I stop it from
doing so?

Because Excel dates are days since Jan 0 1900 so one day = 1 thus if you put
in
120199 and format as dates you tell Excel that you want 120199 days after
Jan 0 1900

You would need an event macro for thiswww.cpearson.com/excel/DateTimeEntry.htm
