Hopefully at least one other person in here knows what I'm talking about.
How do you get this thing to do its job AND stay in tune? Is it because of the way the cavity is made? Could I possibly do some re-routing and fit in an original floyd rose?
Pics available upon request.
If it's a copy(does it have quot;Licensed under Floyd Rose Patentsquot; stamped anywhere on it?) then its most likely never going to do its job. A Schaller Floyd Rose should fit right in, and from what I've heard they are pretty good.
I haven´t held a DIme yet, but Washburrn has been using the 600s for some time...
It´s EXACTLY the same in quality as the Ibanez LO-TRS Trems or the Jackson JT580...It will work for a while, but an Original Floyd is definitely a huge upgrade
Right, right. I prefer the original floyd rose, as the two guitars I have with those tremolos hold in tune better than anything else I own.
This 600-S tremolo does in fact have the quot;Liscensed Under Floyd Rose Pats.quot; stamped right on it. I don't think it should be there considering the crappy nature of this specific product.
Zerberus, would you happen to know if re-routing to fit an original floyd rose is an option?
Not to try and answer something I wasn't asked... but I'm 95% sure you can have it re-routed to accept an OFR. I'm not exactly sure on the cost involved, though.
Hey, an answer is an answer. I won't give you crap for that.
Could you post pics? I have an Ibanez Lo-TRS, which started working well after I re-positioned the trem springs.. It works swell (for my needs anyways)

Pics are here. Notice where the pins are located compared to the tremolo cavity. Weird (and stupid), huh?
I'm not sure if you'll need to re-route it for an official FR.. Anyways, it seems that the trem is quite high.. If that is the case, try lowering it. And a buddy of mine said that new springs sometimes help. I have my springs close to eachother at the plate attatched to the body, and spread wider at the trem block.

No. BEcause anything you would have to rout away is already gone
Just replace the studs w/ the original Floyd studs, drop the trem in, setup, and you´re rarin´to go
BTW. the way the trem is mounted isn´t wierd at all. It´s the way ALL Floyds were mounted before the fully recessed routs became common
I have tweaked a Dime 333 with the trem which you speak of. I was talkin the quot;Trendkillquot; model anyway. The locking bridge ain't even close to a Floyd. The string-ball ends are not even removed . . . it can never function as a true Floyd does.
HOWEVER. Think before you consider throwing in a true Floyd. A couple warnings. Firstly, the guitar you have is a collectible, that will never be made again, and due to Dime's untimely death, worth $$$$. Putting a new trem in will destroy value. It will also cost lotsa cash to buy the Floyd and have it fitted. If the Dime 333 that I worked on was representative of the instrument, your guitar will also never really be able to perform at the level of an expensive guitar, so just consider that before you run in with a new trem in hand . . .
1. There are no modifications, routing etc..., to drop in an original Floyd. Like said above. put in the original Floyd bushings and studs, which thread wise may be interchangeble with Some lic. floyds. so check before you go yanking the bushings.
2. As for collectibility. Yeah, the won't be made anymore. BUT no collector in their right mind would balk over an upgrade like that..Cmon your talking about a REAL FLOYD that will stay in tune and better the tone. Compared to a Korean made POS that is a pain just to work with. If collectibility is big concern, keep the original bridge and if you decide to sell it, just swap back. No big deal since there's no physical modding right?

I'm not real sure what that guy worked on, but that statement is dead wrong if I've ever heard one. The 333s were not cheap guitars. The Dimebolt finish you have ran about $1000 new. NONE of the mid to high end Washburns were fitted with original floyds unless they were custom shop. Those guitars were some of the BEST they made during that time period. They came out in what 95-96? I've played several and thought they were all spectacular axes.....
Hmm.. I think a locking trem could work without the ball ends removed.. as long as it has locking pieces in the trem

....
The Washburn 600s trem is 100% identical to the Old TRS trems (not the newer lo-pro ones) and the older Takeuchi-made Jackson JT-580 trems (also not the new LP version).
THe trem is made in Japan by Takeuchi, Parts are readily available through , and it is VERY double Locking with ball ends to be removed. THere is also a 300-s, that´s a single locking model, and IIRC there used to be a POS Import Dime with that one on it, I´m pretty sure not the 333 but quot;one notch lowerquot;...
as far as collectability: I wouldn´t hold my breath....Dime 333s can be currently had for 2-300 bucks each on ebay, and Imports usually never rise in value enough to make them worth collecting.....Washburn is also not really the company people associate w/ Dime, but Dean. Dean USA Lightning Bolt MLs, on the other hand, are really starting to go through the roof
I think it is a quot;Licenced under Floyd Rose pattentsquot; kind of gear. If so an Original Floyd Rose trem should fit exactly. No problem with the cavity. I hope you know your Dime is a collectible from now on since Washburn doesn't make any of those anymore. Take good care of it
Would it hurt the value of the guitar if I put in the Dimebucker/'59 set??

Looks like the trem in my wolfie.
Sorry guys, didn't realise that OFR wouldn't need mods or anything. You could always take it out. These definitely are becoming collectables though, but that's not really an issue for anything you can take out. So yeah, throw a dimebucker in.
good, because i did it yesterday.
Hi there, so did u manage to change the 600s trem to a OFR?
Do bear in mind that the trem post spacing might be diff. from the OFR. U shld measure it b/f getting the OFR.
Also, the FR Pro might be a better fit.... just a thought.

Who has messed with the 600S tremolo found on the Dime 333's?
