I just don't like the C-5 in my strat anymore So, I'm thinking about a nice white JB to throw in there. I have two questions I'd like to see if you guys can help me with.

1) How will the JB sound with 250K pots in an alder MIA strat with a rosewood board?

2) Will it over power the Texas Specials?

I want something that will really be punchy and alive sounding, and also have a relatively normal eq.

Thanks

.

The Jb will over power the singles. I like the JB alot more with 250K pots myself (not that I like it at all though but, it is better with 250's in my opinion). If you are looking for a pickup that will mix well, go for a 59 trembucker in the bridge.

odie is the JB hateologist but I agree with him that it will overpower your singles. You might look into a 59 trembucker, or if spacing is not an issue with you a Jazz or an Alnico II pro would do great with singles.

I had a jb with a pair of Rio Grande Tall Boys and it worked quite nicely. Yeah the jb will overpower the singles but unless you are constantly switching between pups it shouldn't be an issue. I used a mini switch for coil spilting and took out one of the tone controls so if you need to go from neck to bridge you can keep some what of a quot;levelquot; volume between pups.

My favorite pickups for strats are 59B, C-5, and JB. Right now, I have a Jazz B and 2 Surfers. The Jazz is surprisingly good, but I may give the 59 another try.

I wish I had a Seth Lover in tremspaced, because I'd love to try that pickup. I may just use a regular spaced version.

Thanks, guys. I'm really wanting a full sized bridge JB humbucker, but I don't know what I should do. I really like the sound of the 4th and 5th position single coils on my strat, but I've really been jonesing for a full sized JB bridge with it's own tone knob (possibly a 500K). I don't think I can do that with a strat. Anyone have any suggestions?
