Hi I am after a new single coil bridge pup for my alder/ maple neck tele. Something that has more bite and hi end (more edgier) than the stock pup and is very clear not to thin sounding in the mids and lows but retains the vintage tele twang. I really want it to cut through the mix.
I am also replacing the neck humbucker pup to a duncan and need more high end and bite with clarity and less low end muddyness.
What would be a good combo?
Thanks Dills
For edginess, I would go for a Broadcaster/59 combo.
For really nice bite and punch, I would go for a JD/PG combo.
For the higher end combo, I would opt for an Antiquity 1955 (for the raised D amp; G poles) in the bridge and an Antiquity humbucker for the neck.
Cheers,
59' for the bridge... a PG or Seths in the neck would be great
If you want a really thick tone, place a SH-4 Ducan Custom into the bridge although it wasnt my cup of tea.
I like Butch's suggestion of the PG/JD Combo. Another option would be a STL-2 Tapped paired with the PG. That's what I have in my Thinline and it rocks.

I love the A2 Jerry Donahue lead but it doesn't have the bite Dills seems to be describing...it's pretty midrangey and smooth in the highs.
The A5 Broadcaster would be a good one...if Dills wants something even more versative, especially if he's going to use a neck humbucker, I'd suggest the Tele Hot Lead tapped.
Tapped you get the tone of a Broadcaster...full output gets a fatter, hotter tone for soloing. Great pickup and Evan's fave.
As for a neck humbucker that's a tougher call as I really don't like a neck humbcuker with a single coil bridge pickup. Seems to always overpower the bridge pickup, IMO.
However, the Antiquity was a great suggestion as would be a Seth Lover...especially if Dills wants a covered neck humbucker.
Gamp;L uses a Seth neck with the Broadcaster bridge in one of thier Tele variations.
The Jazz Neck would be nice too and would have more highs, more bass and less mids than the Seth Lover.
The Pearly Gates neck or A2Pro neck would also be nice and would be similar to the Seth (but brighter to most ears) and uncovered.
Lew
Thanks Guys for your help, what about the phat cats do they fit my description?
The broadcaster seems like a good idea but lew suggests a tele hot for more versatility ill look into it.
