Well they make good guitars. They really do. And they are very good for the money. But when you consider buying one take into consideration all the electronics are cheap junk, including the pickups. On the other hand the construction of the guitars, fretwork, etc is top notch. It's near perfect most times. The pickups I guess aren't THAT bad, but how would would it really cost the company to put in quality switches, jacks, and pots?

But they have a real problem with their employees and customer service. 9 times out of 10 whenever I get someone on the phone they sound like they don't even want to be there, and they almost never know what they are talking about. The other day I talked to one of the higher ups about my rebuild to ask some questions because they moved production over to a 12 inch fretboard radius on all guitars about the time I sent mine back, which is what I'd prefer anyway. My model has a tune-o-matic bridge on it and I wanted to know how they handle the difference in radius at the bridge, different bridges, or do they file them. He had no idea what he was talking about, he said well each saddle is individually adjustable. I was like no they aren't, not on a tune-o-matic. And he was like quot;ohquot; and was stumped. Then he says quot;we only have one kind of TOM that goes on all guitarsquot;. So it looks like I'll just buy a tonepros anyway and radius the bridge myself.

Also, the first guitar they sent me had really sloppy nut and bridge work and a very tiny finish flaw so I sent it back considering the fact that I paid a grand for it. I want it to be perfect if it's new. On a used guitar I don't care. It takes 8 weeks to recieve a custom order, and they told me rebuilds get priority and get bumped up to about 4 weeks. They recieved my guitar May 25th and I finally got an update. It'll be done August 4. That's more like 2 months.

If I didn't like the guitar so much I would have gotten a refund by now. I'll give it until august and if there's still some kind of problem I'm getting a refund.

I have a friend with several Carvin guitars and I'm not very fond of the feel or the tone but they are generally well made instruments. I have 2 friends with Carvin basses and I like those just fine.

TOM bridges should have a 12quot; radius already, but you can grind the bottoms of the saddles to any radius you like. You just have to be good at it.

refund...build two warmoth's!

I've tried to like Carvin as well, and even bought one, but the tone was pretty aweful stock and only so so with upgraded pups. The other thing that is a total drag is the resale value is so bad that you really get hit if you buy new and end up selling...

yeah. do a custom shop fender ,gibson or ESP!!

im a couple of days away from waiting 3 months for my esp yeah i definately know what you mean about hating the wait its frustrating i hate that you cant try carvin out unless its used they should really stop being exclusively mail order

I agree i ve never heard a carvin guitar that i really liked.

Ive heard a lot of bad things about their amps also.

Kinda sucks because the idea of getting a cusom guitar made for very little money is a great one.
