Hey guys.
I got my Bareknuckle pickups last nite and there's no wiring diagram or instructions included (I bought them on Ebay).
This is what the Bareknuckles site says about wiring their pickups:
'Black =start of screw coil
White = finish of screw coil
Red = start of slug coil
Green = finish of slug coil
For standard series operation solder the red to the pot tag, the black to ground(usually the back of the pot casing) and solder the green and white together.'
How would I go about wiring these pickups for Coil tap/split using a Push/Pull pot for each pickups, and hopefully humbucking when both pickups are split (if possible)?
I did ask my good buddy Kyle (korinastratkyle) and he did help me, but it turns out that I dont have archiving setup on Yahoo Messenger so I've lost all of his info
Thanx for any info guys.
Craig
Hey Craig; Basically, use this as a reference:
Splitting
It only shows one pup, but the concept is the same. Make these changes, though:
Use your red, where SD shows black.
Use your black, where SD shows green.
Tie your green and white together, to the center of the pot switch terminals.
Also, I'd use the top lug of that switch for ground, rather than the bottom, so that you have split operation when you quot;pullquot; the pot switch, rather than quot;pushquot; it.
Just do the same with the other side of the switch to split both pups.
Like this:
That shows using one switch. You would, of course, use one side of two switchs in order to have independent control.
Thanx for the reply Artie
I think I understand what you've written, but my friend that will be soldering the switches for me will probably understand more than i do
Thanx for your help.
Craig
You're welcome. And keep in mind, if you or he isn't sure, I'd be happy to make a custom drawing. I've already got one around here somewhere, in an archive.

Thanx for the offer Artie
Basically it's a 2 Humbucker setup each with it's own Volume, Tone and a Push/pull switch on the volume controls. At the moment the guitar is wired up with a PGn and a Demon bridge with coil taps, but I wasn't sure how to wire these Bareknuckles in the same way
Using the way you mentioned earlier, will the sound be humbucking when both pickups are on and are coiltapped?
Thanx again for your help.

This is one of those things where I have to stop and think about it. I always get tripped up on this. By splitting both coils to ground, you'll get the slug coils of both pups. I'll have to do a bit of research to remind myself if this is humbucking or not.
Or, maybe Kent S. or someone will chime in on this one.
Brow-- Don't forget to give us some reviews when you get the pups installed

Well no rush, take as long as you need to think it through mate. I'm in no rush and appreciate your help Originally Posted by wixomwhatBrow-- Don't forget to give us some reviews when you get the pups installed
I'll be sure to post about them when I have them installed My friend that's wiring the switches for me is on holiday until next friday though
So I might have to do my own 'bodge job' on them and see if they work

I'm looking forward to hearing about them. Which set did you get?

Oooo... I'd be *really* interested in what the Black Dog sounds like. I await your review with bated breath
Anyone know if these are available in the U.S. without all of the massive customs etc.?

No, you have to get em direct from BK ...
You subtract VAT from the price, and I think it's something like 5 pounds to have em sent parcel post to the US. My Miracle Man/Irish Tour set shipped today, so I'll let you know how long it takes to reach me.
SO, the price is, approx.
95 pounds - 17.5% VAT = 78.4 pounds
78.4 pounds = $141.12, with today's exchange rate
approx $9 for shipping
TOTAL = about $150 USD per pickup.

Now you see why I don't mind waiting for my pickups to ship from the US to the UK...
Can't wait to hear about the BK's, all of them have been getting good reveiws in mags, so it'd be good to hear what the forum bro's think.

That's also the reason I've always bought my pups either used or new from the US
I think I'm gonna install them myself without the coil tap option for the timebeing, so I can atleast hear what they sound like and then get my friend to wire the switches for me
