Guys, I really need to ditch this 500T in my LP Classic! You guys have recommended the Custom a few times but I was wondering if any of you have had experience with the Rio BBQ in comparison?
Thanks!
Rich
I've never used the BBQ, but everyone describes it as a warm JB with boosted lows. It sounds like a good combo for a bright guitar, but it might be too dense in a LP IMO.
in the past you have said you have owned both the rio and the custom?
anyway go with the custom in a LP
it has better clarity in one

Thanks, it has been a while since I've had both but I think the BBQ has excellent clarity in the rigth guitar.
I thought the Rio had too much low, and didn't have the singing highs or clarity i get from my Duncans. Horrible pick up? No. But I prefer the JB/Custom Custom to the Rio. So I'd go for a Custom or any in that line if I were you.

the rio BBQ sounds best with a 1 meg volume pot or better yet a NO LOAD one
Depends on the guitar I guess as the Rio BBQ I had in a Les Paul years agao was rich, thick and ballsy with a ton of scream.
