I am thinking of buying a guitar from a friend of mine. It's a quot;Super Stratquot; type with an H-S-S pickup config. It has an ash body, rosewood fingerboard and a locking trem. I have decided to install an SH-11 Custom Custom in the bridge position. I can't figure out really what I should install in the neck amp; middle positions. I was leaning towards a pair of APS-2's. But I thought they might be a little too low output to keep up with the CC. I also was thinking about huim-canceling. That would be nice too. I have a Classic Stack but it's very low output. I don't think it would match well.
I'm looking for a nice evenly-balanced pickup config.
I'll sing this song one 'mo time . . .
In an HSS configuration, I love using quot;tappedquot; singles. You get amazing versatility for the price of a switch. My Genny is tapped QP's with a Custom 5. Love it. (Plus, I've got a tapped SSL-6 and your Stack, on the way for another project.
Bump....
Anyone else?
Do you want more rocky or more.. quot;nicequot;... sound?

Good question.....
I'm looking for an overall well-balanced tone. I loved the tone of my Texas Special Strat pickups in my Telecaster that I had at one time. They were pretty loud, but smooth and could be unruly when I needed them to be. I want the neck and middle pickups to be fat and have a good quack too.
After reading some of the specs, I'm leaning toward either the Duckbuckers or Vintage Rails. What do you guys think?
BTW, I went to the Tone Wizard and put in my specs. I said the music style was Fusion and it gave me all this Parallel Axis stuff. I didn't like what it recommended....
The Duckbuckers and Vintage Rails have a distinct singlecoil sound without the hum.. so if you like that, they are a good choice

Yes, they do... In thinking more about it, I would like to have more of a Texas Special type tone. IOW, something a little fatter than vintage with enout output to keep up with the CC. It has to be hum-cancelling too...
