Anyone dealt with ReRanch? I have a Warmoth SG that I'm looking to paint Fender Coppertone Metallic. I'll be finishing it myself since I haven't found a quote that I like (one of the quotes I got to finish the body was $450!!!! That's outrageous!)
ReRanch offers all the materials I need, just wondering if anyone around here has used their products.
Also, what are my clearcoat options, other than nitro? I like a good nitro finish, but the laquer I used on my Ibanez was quot;softquot; for so long that you could leave fingernail indentations for the entire first two months after the refinish was done. In that time the finish really took a beating, which says a lot because I really baby my guitars. Any other clearcoat options (other than polyurethane, I don't want a yellow-sih tint to the clear right off the bat)?
Also, are there issues with sticking if the color is a laquer product and teh clear is not?
Reranch is GREAT !! Bill is a real cool guy to deal with. As far as soft
lacquer. Not all lacquer's are created equil. You need to use a
Insturment grade Nitro like Belen's or Macfadened's or reranch.
furnature grade lacquer that you get in your local hardware store
like Parks brand will be to soft for a guitar.
I used Reranch's aerosol satin nitro to finish the neck on my strat, and I got some fine grit sandpaper too. Dealing with them was hassle free, and the product is great. There's a forum on the site full of people that use Bill's products and other brands as well, and having nothing but the best to say about them. There are a few guys there with pretty big paint shop operations, it's a pretty knowledgable group there.
