Just curious, what strings do you use with your Duncan pups and what guitar is it on?
I have 2 Epi LP's, both of them with a C5b and '59n with Gibson Les Paul signature strings...
Schecter Jazz-7 with Duncan Designed (Jazz-n, JB-bridge) 25quot; scale
D'addario 10-46 (use a 66 roto on the low B)
Frankencaster with 3 Cool Rails 25.5quot; scale
D'addario 9-42
Gibson ES-125 (stock pickup) 24.75quot; scale
Daddario 11-?
To tell you the truth, I buy strings to match the scale and either buy
round wounds (sometimes half-flats for the Gibson). Don't much care if
they are D'addario, GHS, etc
Tell me a little bit about the EPI LP compared to Gibson LP, and EPI LP
compared to EPI SG? I played an EPI LP Custom 3-pup, it felt great and
sounded pretty good. Nonetheless, I would probably replace the
pickups and go to a different wiring scheme.
But I just played a Gibson LP standard recently that played and sounded
great and am trying to gauge what tone I'll give up from the EPIs cheaper
wood combo. Also, how is the EPI LP weight compared to the Gibson?
thanks
The same strings I use with any pickup...
DR-Tite-Fit 12-52 in standard /dropped D and GHS Boomers 7 string medium (sans high e) for D/dropped C

That blue flame top Jackson... do you still need it or can I have it now?
Ups,lol.... that one and the LP are actually already gone..... sold them in the Summer for gt;1k each
The Fusion is gone as well, Davey´s now....but I don´t have a pic of mine outside of the group shots.....
I use Cleartone strings on all my electric and acoustic guitars. Also, a minor point of trivia, all Duncan pickups are originally voiced using guitars strung with Cleartones.

Looks interesting, thanks Evan..... Now If only they made something in my guage and not just florist´s wire....
11-48, what am I supposed to tune UP now?? Maybe to G or so?
25.5quot; scale electric guitars: Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms
24.75quot; scale guitars: Ernie Ball Power Slinkys
26.5quot; baritone electric: D'Addario Heavy Baritone
Acoustic guitars: Elixir Nanoweb 13 gauge acoustic strings
Never heard of Cleartone before... if it's good enough for SD Inc., it's should be good enough for me! Have to check them out....
I use ernie ball super slinkys on all my guitars. I tried out light gauge D'addarios and didnt like them as much (the colored ends are cool though). I might try moving to a 10-46 set of ernies soon
I use Elixir .010-.046 on my Jackson and my Lag, .009-.042 on my Ibanez, .011-.049 on my Squier. On my Yamaha (35quot;) I've got Elixir .045-.130 Extra Long Scale with taperwound low B. On the Precision, I use Elixir .045-.105. On the Soundgear are Rotosound .035-.090's (that one is my main slapbass, I prefer light strings on it). On my westerns I use Elixir .012-.053.
But to stick to the Duncan-equipped ones: that would be the Lag and the P-bass. I replaced the Duncans on the Jackson with DiMarzios.
On my Brian Moore i2, I use Elixir 10s, I prefer nanoweb but I usually forget, and this time I've gotten stuck with polyweb.
On the Charvel, I was using DR Red Devils 9s, now it's DR Black Beauties 9s.

What do you think of using Elixirs on electric guitars? I adjusted to them for acoustics and really like them now on my acoustic guitars. But the one time I tried them on electric I thought they were kind of funky...
Do you think they feel kind of slimey and slippery for bends and vibrato?
I'm using .09-.48s Elixir's on my Ibanez w/ Dimebucker. I actually like the way they feel. However, I have mixed feelings about Elixirs. It seems they suddenly aren't staying in tune after having them on about 3 months.
I use the best strings I've ever tried for Drop D and standard tuning.
GHS Progressives 10-52 Dave Mustaine signatures.
ghs boomers. Something about the way the attack sounds with those sits very well with me.
I'm about to start using DR Pure Blues on everything. Nickel strings are the sh1t. Guage-wise, I use 12-52 on my ES175, and various guages on the solid bodies (depending on how low I'm tuning).
I also really like SIT strings. They sound great ( a little brighter than the DRs) and last a really long time.
Stainless steel Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom on the Les Paul amp; Teles. Stainless steel Ernie Ball Hybrid slinkys on the rest of the line.

A little, but once they get older the coating will wear off on the places where you bend often, so they stop slipping on the frets and start to feel more like your average guitar string. I've gotten used to the feel, and will definitely continue using them. Actually, I like the slippery feel.Originally Posted by usagiHowever, I have mixed feelings about Elixirs. Never happened here. I'm using them on two guitars with floating Floyd-type trems, with no trouble at all.
It may just be the sudden barometer / temperature change in my location. They seem to be holding tune again. 1 on the slippery feel, they feel fast. And they smell nice too!
