So Christmas is just around the corner and I'm trying to decide on what to get my little brother. I was thinking a small amp, probably a Roland Micro Cube, along with a Monster guitar cable. He basically just has a Squire Bullet and that's it. No amp, cables or anything. He's been playing pretty much non-stop for the past 9 months or so and he's gotten rather good in that time. In that time he's been using my gear as well as my older brothers. I've noticed that he seems to be getting tired of his Squire, as he is always asking to use my guitars, as well as my brothers. So on that note I was thinking maybe upgrading the pickups on his guitar. I know the pickguard will need to be changed (I'm thinking of throwing in a Custom). I'm thinking I'll need to change the pots too. If I go this route the guitar will have a H/S/S config. Is there anything else I might need to swap out for the exchange and what pots should I use? I haven't been here in awhile so my brain has rotted and I've forgotten a few things.
Also, suggestions would be welcomed on which route to choose.

Thanks.

Generally 500k for humbuckers, 250k for single coils but it's a matter of taste.

And the microcube is a GREAT little amp, lots of fun.

I see. Actives are generally 25k, right?

Yeah, I considered the option to use both battery and AC power too, that's a plus. I'm confused as to why the 15 watt version is cheaper than the Micro. Might be the AC adapter that's supplied with the Micro I'm guessing.

The new line6 toneport my be a good idea too, if he uses the computer alot.

The microcube has a lot of effects and models that the 15 doesn't have.
