The neck has a 4-conductor '59. The wire is aligned toward the bottom of the guitar, but the pickup is flipped so the screw pole pieces are aimed toward the bridge.
Any ideas?
To move the tapped part of it closer to or farther from the bridge, and change the tone .
With the screws facing the bridge, you get some more control of the high end with the screw pieces.
Did you pull the pickup away from the guitar to check the label underneath? Could be a 59 B, but if it sounds good, just leave it. What bridge pickup is in it?
Its also possible that someone at Gamp;L, (or whoever changed the pup), didn't realize that they are all made symmetrically and simply installed it backwards. Look at any SD schematic: (Relative to cable orientation.)

btw - The orientation has no affect on which coil you can split. Thats determined by shorting the red/white to green or black.

If this was directed at me, my thinking was that someone didn't know you could wire it up that way, and wanted the split pickup closer to/farther from the bridge.
Or maybe some picky ******* swears that it sounds better with the screw coil split towards the bridge?

Weird pickup placement in my Gamp;L Invader. Flipped? I'm confused.
