anybody tell me what pickup i can buy to make my solidbody guitar sound more like a classical acoustic guitar when clean? i love that sound, man. I just can't take high action and inaccessible 18-up frets.

Hi EOS, neat avatar.

What kind of guitar are you playing and what kind of amp?

-Matt

i am currently playing a solid maple body ESP M-50 strat body with a rosewood board and PRS PAF style tremonti pickups, basically making my guitar both a les paul and a strat.

and i have a little 14 watt vox pathfinder. nothing special

Get a Gibson Chet Atkins, closest I think you'll get.

I think Wattage is right... Really trying to get a round wound nickle string solid body guitar to sound like a nylon string acoustic is a very tall order at best... I guess maybe just try and find pickups to make it as warm and even as possible... maybe try some flat wound strings...

boss AC-2? would take you a notch away from solidbody tone, i guess..

Heh learn to play that damm thing, well if you really want the real sound

hehe rid has a point - if you can get used to the high action and the stretching on the acoustic, you'll burn up the frets on an electric

if you're after the stage sound, though, i'd still check out the AC-2 with pretty heavy strings..

Rid hit this one head on. If you want the tone, you're going to need the real thing. I think you'd spend too much money shooting in the dark trying to get a solid body electric with round wound nickel strings to sound even remotely similar to a classical guitar with nylon strings. In the end, I don't think you'll be anywhere near the right sound, anyway.

Godin makes a really, really nice one:

from : localhost/a lot of nice ones.

I play Classical stuff with the Jazz neck.

i use my roland gr33 guitar synth 'nylon string' patch when i want to sound like a nylon string ... short of the real del, i cant imagine that anything else will work

One more for the Roland or you can go Godin (very nice but expensive and also some have midi built in AND piezo) or you can just install a Fishman or other piezo bridge, split the output and EQ the piezo for a classickal stone on the other amp - get yer money out!
PS does the Variaxe have a good classical guitar patch??

Not even close ... I use the AC-2 a fair chunk but it's a far far cry from a classical. Classicals sound way different from Steel Strings.

As has been mentioned I believe the closest you will ever get and not being a true classical is the Godin Nylon String Multiac

aright guys, after looking at prices and such, i'm gonna just go buy an acoustic, for as little money as possible. I have about $90 spending money. thanks alot tho.
