Got a Peavey Classic 30...looking for more bottom end when I'm wailing with my SG. Thinking of junking the Blue Marvel for a Celestion G12h30. Whaddya think?

I think that's a perfect idea. G12H-30 is my favorite speaker next to the G12-65

While I've never done it myself, my background in home and car stereo systems leads me to believe that changing the speaker makes a big difference.

i think that a speaker could make an amp sound way different. Put a vintage 30 and a g12h30 in a twin and all of the sudden you could make it roar, load a marshall 4x12 with jbl d120f's and you could play shimmering cleans ala little wing and other hendrix tunes.

Guitar amp designs are so simple, and in some cases, vary so little that the character of a speaker change could cause someone to believe that it's a different amp altogether.

Awesome...the GH1230 is getting installed tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

I am not familiar with the blue marvel, but if it's mediocre then you are probably in for a treat. A speaker change can make a big difference.

but g12h30's are rock amp; roll to the core, you gotta love 'em

Just changing from a Greenback to a G12H30 made a large difference in my Franklin. (Mojo brand of course)
