My friend brought over a bass he wanted me to look at for another one of his friends. It's a Rogue XB Pro 4. (i just looked it up) So at first, we couldn't get any sound out of it save for a few crackles, but then I looked in the battery box and there was nothing in there. I borrowed the battery out of my EBow and gave the bass some life, but then the signal coming out of the bass seemed to be totally distorted. It sounded as if there was a fuzzbox built into the thing, but none of the knobs really cut back the distortion. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Maybe it's got a Duncan Distortion in it... ahahahahah I'm so funny... could it be that the signal coming from th ebass is to strong for the preamp stage of your amp?

1) Active basses NEED a fresh battery

2) Be sure to hit the active/passive pad on your amp. It'll knock down the gain by 15db.

3) It's a Rogue. !

As Tom stated, it needs a fresh battery.

1) Slapped a new battery in there... It's still distorting just the same.
2) The bass amp I'm dealing with is a POS, but I'm running into the Active input. I ran it into my practice amp combo just to make sure it wasn't the amp. It distorted there too.
3) I am beginning to think this is the problem.

Now I'm gonna take the back off and look at the electronics.
