usually leather straps are more expensive than nylon/cloth ones. are the worth the extra cash?

I have leather straps for all of my guitars except 1 strat, which has a stars and stripes strap. Nothing better than leather IMO, and you can get nice ones for $25-$40.

Oh yeah, i REALLY need a nice leather strap!

I have about 3 black ones, and a nice purple\silver planet waves strap.... but none do my sunburst fretless any justice!

I use like Leather straps. particularly for my ES-137 besause its so heavy /i use the padded leather straps. on my other guitars I use the straps with two inch wide leather back and a desighn on the front.

I've got a nice Gibson strap. Brown leather with a seperate raised strip on it, with GIBSON embossed on it. It doesn't match my guitar, so I'm selling it. Anyone want it.

nylon/cloth for me, never did find a leather strap i like.

Same here. I loved the look of a leather strap so I bought one when I got my Gamp;L. I returned it 2 hours later and exchanged it for a gig bag and nylon strap. I found that I move my guitar alot based on what part of the fret board I'm playing at the moment. The leather strap didn't want to slide, and was actually twisting my shirt pretty badly. Something I hadn't considered. But it looked pretty cool.

I have 4quot; leather straps for everything. Distributes the weight nicely and look great.

I gotta have the leather. My preference right now are Levy's.

That said, the black nylon one on my RR-1 broke today, the little plastic buckle just broke. I might just tape it up, though.

I use a $4 Ernie Ball strap. As long as the strap moves and doesn't get caught in my should it works for me. I play SGs so weight is not a problem.

yay

Yay, i have a srv leather strap with the notes on it, l ike it very much.

I like the my Fender tweed strap the best. I've got a leather one that cost $30 but I don't use it much. It is the kind of leather strap that is soft to the touch, maybe if I had the shiny leather straps like boot leather I'd like it better, but the strap I have dosen't move without taking your shirt with it. My Fender strap moves freely without catching on my shirt.

i use simple black cloth ones (I dont like how nylon feels)...since I am short, I can never adjust leather ones to be 'perfect' for me, plus I don't want my strap detracting from my raw sexuality..

no, actually, i just haven't found one I like, and once I got used to the cloth ones (I use fenders) I spend $$ on other stuff.

dunlop d-38's. sturdiest nylon strap ive ever seen. its all i use. leather is just too damn expensive, and i can never find one long enough (full length with same width, i hate when they have the skinny adjuster things on the ends)

I have a couple of black Levy's Leather straps, and one of those DiMarzio one's that Via uses. I like both, though I prefer the leather ones.

Depends on the guitar.

My Fenders are lighter and fairly well balanced. As a result a nylon Ernie Ball strap is enough for them. My shoulder isn't tired after a 3 set night and I don't feel like I'm juggling anything.

For my Gibson and Grecos I go with a wide padded Levys leather strap. As some folks mentioned they leather will grab at the shirt. Some folks quot;grabquot; is another mans quot;anchorquot;. And after a 3 set night with a 9 pounder you'll appreciate the good weight distribution.
