I just got an MXR Dyna Comp in today from a trade. I have been toying with it for a while and I seem to either get too much of a boost or too little output with no sustain. My goal is to be able to add plenty of sustain without making it sound like a solo boost. I am very new to the world of compression pedals so please school me!!!
Hey B; I don't know if this will help because both my compressors are rack-mount, but generally, you want to adjust the output level so that there is little-to-no change in volume as you go from full compression to no-compression.
Hopefully, others will expand on that.

Artie is right. I usually set mine with both knobs between 1:00 amp; 2:00, although I have been setting the sensitivity between 12:00 amp; 1:00 with my Fly Deluxe.
