If you're after a guitar-looking and -playing one, look into the Jerry Jones line of sitars. The Master Sitar usually goes for around $700, but their Baby Sitar goes for around $600. I quite like the sitar patches on my Roland GR-30, plus you get all the other synth sounds, and the cost is comparable!

don't go to Sitar Center though, I've heard bad things about that place...
