Hey. First I wanna start out by saying I love this forum. Everyone seems pretty friendly. Anyways I'm finally upgrading my stock Duncan Design pickups in my Schecter C-1 Im getting a Jazz for the neck, but I'm trying to find one for the bridge. I originally wanted the Live Wire metal until I realized it was active and the Jazz is passive. I play mostly metal such as Metallica and Slayer. I was wondering what pickup would suit my metal needs I was looking into the Duncan Distortion, Custom or the Dimebucker. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Also sound clips would kick ass also

I think the custom would fit that bill the best. The distortion will be good as well, but I found it to be a little more raw and grainy...while the custom is a bit smoother. No experience with the Dimebucker.

jeff nailed it. custom or distortion.(and if you like a5 mags, a jb might be good too)

o bye the way: WELCOME TO THE FORUM.

The Custom is one of my favorite high output 'buckers out there. It'll cover pretty much any sound you need.

metallica wise, kirk used a distortion and james used an invader up until the recording of Master Of Puppets i think, then they switched to EMG's. As for Slayer, Kerry King used to use a Dimarzio Megadrive... which is probably similiar to a Custom/Invader hybrid from what i've heard. I personally would go for the Custom though, i think it would sound better with the jazz in the neck position

Thanks guys

Not sure what the composition of you're guitar is, but that will definatley make a difference in what HB is suitable for the bridge. I seem to be preferring lower output duncans these days, but I used to shred with the best of them (including Metallica). Of the four high output bridge HBs I've tried, I'd have to say that the Dimarzio Tone Zone is my favorite. Tons of gain, but a nice warm feeling to it at the same time. Easy to achieve the tone I was looking for at a given time with my rig. it's one of the only Dimarzios I still appreciate. I found both the Duncan Invader and Dimarzio Super Distortion to put out enough output, but difficult to achieve a really nice tone, to my ears. The Tone Zone also splits to a more authentic quot;strat-likequot; single coil sound than the super distortioin does, if you care at all.

Anyway, more food for though.
