Just put a JB into my new LAG RX100, and it sounds great, except :
- when I use both pups at the same time and split, the level drops significantly. When I use either of 'em split seperately, they sound louder and fatter
- lots of low feedback on higain, compared to the stock pu, and the Alnico's in my other LAG
Any thoughts on that?
thanks,
Jan
welcome to the forum
sounds like it is wired out of phase with the other pup ... swap the black and green wires from the JB and the middle position should sound the way it is supposed to ...
as for the feedback, my guess is that you have to get use to playing a hot pickup and maybe recalibrate your amp settings to account for the extra juice the JB is throwin' .... if you feel you need to do something, you could lower the JB's pickup height a little ... but i would hate to see you dial out all the quot;JB-nessquot; of the JB ... in the long run, you'll be happier if you learn to control the feedback through your playing ... you can always roll back the volume pot or the tone pot a little to see if you can get it under control ...
good luck

It sounds to me like you may have installed the JB using the color codes from the Ibby you took out. That would account for only one coil being out of phase.
Take a look at this thread and see if the info there might help you out:

I concur. It definitely sounds like it's out of phase. It's a simple fix, though.
Thanks all, I'll fix it when I put an SD in the neck position too. I haven't made up my mind which one yet though.

DITTO! the jazz is a PERFECT compliment to the JB in most guitars, just ask SEYMOUR!
And a SH2 it will beJan
I think you will be VERY happy with it. It is very clear and articulate. Sounds great in different tunings too.
