Hi!
I'll may be looking for a better neck for my SX body. This is a cheap guitar so I'm not looking for a $200 neck from Warmoth or any real Fender USA neck. A good alternative between $50 and $100 if possible.
Are the StewMac necks good quality? Does anyone ever changed a SX neck?
Is the body compatible with standard Strat necks?
Thanks!
Check some of the stores on eBay. They sell MightyMite, Allparts necks at around $100. I put a MightyMite neck on a Parts-o-Caster but had the vendor dress the frets for me. They can be pretty nasty on the fingers if not cleaned up.
How much does it cost to have the frets dressed?
The Stewmac blank peghead necks are good. I got one B4 the headstock police forced them to go to the blank headstock. They are made in Canada
and are slim C shape and the fret work is fine. ( But now you have to cut out
the headstock ) The lic. headstock one's they sell are migthy mite
and are made in the orient. IMHO They are not worth the money. If you
or a friend are handy with a saw? The Canadian stewmac necks are the way
to go.
Cool, thanks kmcguitars, usefull tips, as always!
