I wanted to let everyone know they may want to listen to the Duncan sound clips as a reference when deciding on pickups. I just spent a good bit of time listening to the clips in trying to decide on pickups for my Les Paul and Mccarty and found I really like what i hear in the JB/Jazz combination. I would have never know this without these clips because the nice thing is that they are consistent in that they use the same guitar and I believe the same amp and settings. I only wish Duncan would get some C-5 clips on the board! Ha!
Seriously, they are helpful.
PS
It's nice that they use the same settings, but I absolutely hate the sound of the dirty clips. The tone is so harsh and irritating. There's so much bite to all of them that it makes it tough to tell which pickups are actually capeable of sounding smooth.

I couldn't agree more. The distortion is so overpowering that you really can't hear much of difference.
I also wish that it would be updated. There are a lot of Duncan pickups that need to be added.
Maybe they should update and make new clips with better EQ and amp selections? My main concern was that it is a consistent environement so you can still hear what each pickup is doing compared to the other. But, in all fairness I see your point - it is hard to hear the characteristics of many of these pickups.

But maybe more of as variety of tones and eq (as you suggested) would also help.
