I just picked up a recent used epi sg deluxe. I checked out the pots and they aren't the cheap little ones I expected. That doesn't make them any good however... but them seem to work alright as does the 3 way switch. I've got some '59s to try in it as well.
What experience do you all out there have with these pots? Will changing out to some CTS pots and orange drop caps make a noticeable difference? I know the '59s will help this guitar. The bridge seems pretty strong with a lot of bite, more than I like. Has any one measured the pickups in one of these epi sg's?
I must put in a good word on the larger neck profile that this epi has. More like the 50s neck on an LP. It also came with grover romantic tuners another selling point for me. The neck is a little heavy and it puts the balance a little off.
THis should be a good guitar to practice my ABB, skynyrd and gov't mule licks with...I just got the old strings intonated and it sounds alright.
