Today I rolled into GC to check out a Marshall 4X12 with Vintage 30s (1960BV). To my shock they wanted $937 on the price tag and would only haggle down to $850 or so!!!! I bought an entire Marshall stack (w/G12-75s) in 1998 for $600. I later traded away the stack and now have a Genz-Benz 4X12 with G12-75s (I think that is what they are called). $850 for a Marshall 4X12 seems ridiculous to me. I can buy a Bogner 4X12 for that much money, I could get a Diezel for $950. The Genz-Benz is far superior in terms of its construction to the Marshall. My Genz-Benz has metal handles and a metal grill that protects the speakers.
I have never bought a cab or any kind new so I had no idea Marshall cabs were going for this much $$. Do you guys buy your cabs new or used? What is a good price for a Marshall cab new?
from : localhost/Much cheaper! And from what I hear (from this forum and others), great quality.

Trust me bro, I bought the exact cab at GC around christmas and i haggled GC down to $729. I can give you store location and sales person if that will help you haggle them down. BTW, the cab was New and sealed in the box also.

I bought the A/V 1960 cabinet quite a few years ago when Mars Music was still around and I payed $849 for it....Great cab and I'm not sorry I bought it...Used it again last night..
I would buy one used before I gave $800 for a new one. I see them go in decent shape for $500 on ebay. The new price is too high.

Thanks man. $729 is kinda what I had in mind. PM me that info if you don't mind. I still think there is something very cool about Marshall cabs. They aren't the best but they are rock-n-roll in my book. How do you like that cab by the way? Any noises or grunts when you crank it?

Jeff....Who's the fine lookin Chick a dee in your avatar? Wow!
I wouldn't even get my pants off with someone that looked like that in the same room with me! LOL

I always thought the Marshall 4x12 slant cab looked very cool....You have to at least look cool!
Always buy cabs used. There's an endless supply of guys who've realized that halfstacks are overkill, and scaling down to a combo. I paid $700 for my mint Bogner 4-12, and $550 for my large Bogner 2-12 with roadcase incl. Just don't be anxious.....sit and watch the local ads, then be the first call with money in hand.
RGN, I love my cab!! No problems at all. A PM is on the way.

GJ.....100% agree with you quot;againquot;.....
I love using a 2x12 cabinet, but my new Vox head sounds best through the V30 Marshall 4x12 for now.....I'd like to have an Avatar cabinet with 1 V30 and 1 G12H 30....I think this would be an all around great 2x12 cab for my music styles...Or better yet,the broken in versions of these speakers like my buddy Curly bought....
A 2x12 cabinet is more than enough volume and it's easier on my aging back muscles....Muscles that are very sore these days and not healing!

That's Adriana Lima, the Brazilian Victoria's Secret model.

Oh she's fine!
All I know is she's some chick with a nice rack.
I can live with 2-12s, and they tend to look more appropriate for some gigs, but there's no convincing me that they sound as good as a 4-12. My Bogner 4-12 just tromps the 2-12 in the tone dept.

It's hard to fool quot;physicsquot; brother...You're simply moving more air with 4 speakers vs only 2,though the size of the cabinet is every bit as important...
These days,I prefer a 2x12 and I'm off the ego trip at my age now...I think?

WTF. I only payed $805US for a V30 loaded Mesa cab...and that was new, and normally Canadian prices are higher than the US.
Hey RGN, I've got a nice empty JCM 800 4 x 12 angled Marshall bottem I'll sell cheap. It's an anniversary model and white. The white has been touched up a little by a previous owner. No speakers. Pickup in Boulder only. Don't want to ship it. I'd like to sell it before my move to New Mexico...don't want to move it.

Thanks Lew but with todays gas prices that drive to Boulder would be a killer. I am also looking for a regular black one but that white one sounds pretty interesting. Thanks again and good luck with the move.
