I'm planning on replacing the stock pickups in my Schecter 006. I'm pretty much set on the Jazz in the neck, but I'm split between the JB and the Custom in the bridge.

The guitar has a very thick basswood body and tends to get muddy at times. It's VERY midsy and dark sounding. I'm looking for a pickup with enough power to sound good under heavy distortion, but not necessarily to cause distortion (if that makes any sense). It must be very versatile and be able to cover anything from ACDC to GnR to nu-metal (being in a band is all about comprimising!). I'd also like if it sounded good when coil split - some Clapton for my own ammusement. So...JB or Custom and why?

For what you describe, I'd go with the Custom. I like it a touch better than the JB because it seems like it's a bit more even across the frequency range but stillhas tighter lows than does the JB.

Ok cool. And you don't think I'll have a lack of versatility having only ceramic magnet humbuckers in the bridge of both of my guitars?

Anyone else?

Custom also!!! It can do metal but, it also sounds exactly like a beefed up PAF for AC/DC Gamp;R and stuff like that. I think the custom is very versatile, go for it!!

Custom is a very good choice, its not like other ceramic mag pickups. Enough low end and cuts through very well. Pretty articulate.
