The Jackson Artist Signature Series Phil Collen PC3 says that is has Duncan pickups:
Bridge Pickup: Duncan 103B
Middle Pickup: Duncan SC101
Neck Pickup: Duncan SC101
Are these custom shop pups?
What's the closest one might be able to get with an SSS strat understanding that the Duncan 103B is a dual coil humbucker?
the 103b is based on a duncan distortion bridge, they sc101 is kinda between a ssl1 vintage and ssl5 custom, they are all the duncan designed models.
to get closest id get a pair of the sc101's and either a hot rails or jb jr for the bridge. the hot rails has more mids and bottom so in a brighter guitar it might be the better choice where as for a darker guitar the jb jr might be the ticket
The PC1 pickups are different though....Collen definitely uses a Super3 in the bridge....a sustainer in the neck and I forget what Dimarzio single coil in the middle.

Wow! I would love to have that Jackson.
Being a product of the 80's that I am. And loving the blues as I do.
What am I to do the achieve this compromise in one guitar?
I think that Texas Hot/Texas Hot/ SSL5-tapped or SSL-3 Tapped or Quarter Pounder Tapped or Classic Stack?

The sustainer is quite a system to replace with something else, but then I don't know how much PC or you yourself would use it.
Why not go straight for the Dimarzios? Also, in what kind of guitar would they go in?

Mostly, I'm dreaming of my vision of the ultimate strat morph. My ultimate strat would produce great Texas blues tones and 80's metal stuff a al Def Leppard, Ratt, Dokken. Yes, that's a steep hill to climb. Just dreaming. I started off thinking that I wanted to go for the SRV sound, but I'll never be that good at what SRV did.
New pickups will go in the Jimmie Vaughan strat that you see in my avatar.
I guess I thought that anything Dimarzio does might do better. What the SD version of the HS-2 and HS-3?
I may check the Dimarzios out.

I will have 2 Texas Hots plus something hot at the bridge. Perhaps the answer is the TwangBanger, I keep thinking that I need something hotter. Maybe a Hot Rails is the answer.

I may check the Dimarzios out.Dimarzio and Duncan make different pickups period.....I don't think any brand is better than the other. As far as Def Leppard, Ratt, and Dokken go, Def Leppard has a darker sound in their guitars than alot of those other 80's bands and the Super Distortion and/or Super 3 would suit that sound best....those can do other stuff too but when I think of Ratt or Dokken I think of a brighter pickup like the JB or Duncan Distortion.
I know this doesn't help much but just thought I'd let you know....although you really can't go wrong with any of those pickups IMO.

What about the Lil Screamin Demon compared to the hot rails for that 80's metal genre sound? Is the Lil S Demon brighter than the Lil JB or Hot Rails?
