Hi Everyone

I've searched the forums and posted before but I would like some advice on setting up my Floyd Rose. In the past I have always gone to a reputable tech who has done a great job, its extremely rare that my guitar (Jackson Rhoads) goes out of tune (it has a licensed Rose). I've got a bad indentation in my E string that results in fret buzz around fret 3 but since its been a while since the strings were changed I've decided its time to do it myself. What I want to do is completely take all the strings off and clean the whole guitar, frets, board, bridge etc and really give it a good clean.
However, when it gets re-strung I want to play in Eb rather than standard tuning for good so I know that I'm going to have to alter the claw spring(?). I'm usually pretty good at following instructions so I'm sure there are web resources to help. I'd also like your comments please. What I would like to ask is this:

1. Is it recommended to take all the strings off for cleaning? Is it easier to restring by changing one at a time?

2. If I want to retune to Eb permenantly is it better to restring normally, get in tune and then go about going to Eb or go right from the beginning?

3. I have a volume knob that keeps spinning so I'm guessing some kind of washer or switch has broken somewhere. Is this easy to fix?

Sorry for the long post guys. Hope someone understands me Thanks for reading.

1. It's not a big deal, but yes it's easier to change one at a time. If you do change them all at once, block off the bridge with something that won't scratch the guitar. I've even been hard pressed and stuck a magazine between the bridge and body. And be sure to not overstress the neck. Tune down gradually and tune up gradually (a half step/full step at a time).

2. I'd just go straight to Eb. There's a lot of good information on Floyd Rose's website - tuning, intonation, etc. You'll have to unscrew the spring claw slightly to make up the difference in slack on the strings (I think that's the right direction, but without a guitar in front of me, someone better check me on that). It's all about keeping it balanced. Then just reintonate (a bit harder on a floyd) and tune, and you should be ready to go.

3. That's the most likely explanation. Easy fix. Just pop the knob off and get at it from both sides with wrenches.
