I'm interested in what kind if tones can be achieved from one of these beasts, so anyone who has tried one please chime in.
Cheers
Moog
I have tried one and own a 100CL. It is a great head. I prefer it to the UL but I don't really like 3 channel amps much. The 50CL and 100CL will both rip your dome off, crap in the hole, then attack your wife or girlfiend while vermin eat your dead body. Can it really get better than that?
In general, I really like VHT. It is as good as any high-end boutique stuff out there. The clean channel won't be confused with a Fender or Matchless but most people don't buy a VHT CL to play jazz. The 50 and 100CL compete head to head with the Bogner Uberschall.

Thanks RGN, what a wonderful description! Sounds like my cup of tea - apart from the vermin bit, that sounds nasty....
Hey RGN, did you do your music clips with the VHT?
Most are a mix between a POD XT and a VHT. If I record at night I generally use the POD. I am pretty sure most of the lead stuff on quot; The Patriotquot; was done with the VHT. Most of the background music was the XT. Anything clean is usually the XT or my DSL50.
I have one tune that is 100% VHT. I'll see if I can uploaded tonight.

I thought the VHT had good tone certainly better than most and I hear the reliability is good meaning they are built well. I found I liked it cranked up a bit to realy get its great musical clip tone so it can be a little loud to realy get the most out of it-at least above 3 1/2 to realy start hiting its good tones.
Thanks for the replies guys.
IMO VHT is the LAST word in High Gain guitar amps! There are lots if good high gain amps out there, but nothing can touch a VHT...I love them, and I will have one...one day!
I haven't heard the head, but I was pretty impressed with the 1 x 12 combo, and that was compared to several other high end amps, like the Bad Cat 100.
Cheers guys, bumpety bump

Exactly what I would have said. Someday..Someday.
I haven't played any of the new models, but I've played the Pitbull 100 a few times and it was kind of like the ultimate high gain modded marshall sound. I haven't heard anything yet I like as well. With the gain backed off it could do a very good 1987 type tone, though perhaps a bit quot;dryquot; compared to a Marshall
I think the thing I like about it most and (also with the Soldanos) is that even with super high gain it doesn't get too compressed like many high gain amps do. There is still some quot;dirtquot; or quot;sparklequot; in the top end...not fizzy like a Recto in the modern voicing...moreso a little grit on top like the 1987 or a plexi...but with tons more gain (and tighter in the lows and mids)
it is nice to see all of this VHT love. I think VHT does not get the respect of a Bogner or a Soldano yet their products are every bit as good IMO. I'd challenge anyone to take a Uberschall and a 100CL and say the the Bogner kicks its arse. I could see someone prefering one to the other but they are very similar animals. If you look at a VHTs constuction they are solid as a damn rock. My only complaint is that the reverb on my 100CL isn't that great- a bit harsh. I hardly ever use its reverb and wish I had one w/o the reverb.
I've never played a 50 CL, but I have played a 100 CL. It gave me some of the thickest, ballsiest distortion I've ever heard. I had to steady my hand and check my underwear after using it.
