I just got finnished creating a mutt bucker from two old single coils. I took a Jackson single coil 6.16k and a fender texas special 6.97k. They both have individual magnets but they are slightly different in construction. The texas special is pretty conventional but the jackson pickup has a totally different stagger pattern and its coil is surrounded by a copper shield. I epoxyd the two coils together back to back and they fit in a standard humbucker ring. I also epoxyd a brass baseplate to the bottom so I can mount it like a standard humbucker. The the two coils read 12.94k in series. I just wonder what it will sound like? The odd stagger of the magnets might cause problems but they might be an advantage too if the two coils are run parallel 3.25k.

Sure sounds interesting. Why dont u put it in a guitar? I'd love to hear it.

I have to let the epoxy dry and I will put it in something tommorow. I wouldn't be dissapointed if it sounds bad. Since I wasn't wild about either pickups to begin with.

Seymour Duncun did that too 20 years ago and called ist Stag Mag or The Mag (with flat poles). A hell of clean neck bucker but a little bit blunt for Bridge slot. The best comes out if you split it (no wonder?)
