How does the JB sound split? Its another factor of consideration as i'm comparing it with a C5. I heard the C5 will split better and sound better. I'm set on a 59' neck. Btw, is the JB = JEFF BECK or JAZZ BLUES?
the jb was made for a guitar god back in the day, but there is no contract so jb stands for jazzy blues.
id say the jb sounds just as good as the c5 split, more mids with less bottom
Another for the JB split, good clanky chimy stuff - nuff said
The JB has the most satisfying tone when split of any bridge humbucker I've ever used. Excellant split and parallel tones.
another vote for the split JB. It has more depth than a lot of strat SC pups! I actually like it better split than unsplit for some stuff.

I agree. I had a split JB in the neck of a Les Paul, and it was very stratalicious.

I was just composing a quot;glad I didn't sell itquot; post, when I got your PM. Nice timing.

how would a Jazz Neck sound if it were split? has anyone ever split botht eh Jazz and JB in their guitar? what were the results?

I do it all the time. Seems like every Les Paul I've put Jazz/JB pickups in the customer has asked for them to be splittable.
In the bridge position a split Jazz might be a little weak but in the neck position it splits beautifully, IMO.

I have a JB bridge and a Jazz neck with an SSL-1 mid in my quot;stratquot;.
I love the split sound of both HBs, especially together with the SSL-1
hmmm.... advocators of the split Jazz/JB combo are inticing me make the jump and do that to my LP...
maybe I should take it to the local guitar shop tech, or is it a simple procedure, i've never done it before?
curious indeed lt;pondering in extreme blissgt;

curious indeed lt;pondering in extreme blissgt;fairly simple: replace the volume pots with push-pulls, re-wire the whole thing - done.
Consider the satisfaction after modding your own guitar.

Consider the satisfaction after modding your own guitar. hmmm..... that sounds simple enough... well, do they sell 500k0 CTS push-pull pots???
this sounds simple enough... but which side of the double humbucker becomes the split?

1. Yes
2. Whichever one you want (check the wiring schematics on the SD website - they should have the pattern you're looking for. If not, you will get help here)
If you connect the red/white combo to ground, you split to the stud coil.
If you connect the red/white combo to quot;hotquot;, you split to the screw coil.
Here's a drawing I made for someone awhile back using push/pull pots.
One pp splits both pups. The other selects inside or outside coils.
Of course, you can use one for each also.
Edit: Note that thats an old drawing. It gives the impression that green and white are one coil, and black and red are the other. Thats backwards. Its green and red / black and white. That doesn't affect the way it works, or connects, its just an illusion in the drawing.
