But im hoping to find a decent cheap bass that i can put that 75$ to. and i know im not going to find a new one for 75$, thats just a good chunk for the bass. so any suggestions?

ya i know, but there is this fender only dealer in my city, so i guess he does all the fender dealing. the only fenders this music shop i have the gift certificates to sells are custom shops or used ones. i hope i can get a used pbass or something.
Check out Ebay for a Peavey T-40. They go for under $200, and they are some of the best basses ever made. You won't need to change or upgrade a thing. They just didn't retain their resale value, as Peavey doesn't enjoy the brand name recognition that Gibson, Fender, and PRS do. I would advise against spending $75 on a cheap plywood bass, when you can get something infinitely nicer for just a little more. Use the music store credit for something else.

Check out OLP basses. They are a lower end version of Ernie Ball Basses. They are a good bang for your buck IMO as far as cheaper basses go. They run about 200-240 bucks at the bigger music stores such as guitar center. Keep in mind if you purchase one at a smaller music store your gonna end up paying quite a bit more for the same thing that you can buy at Guitar Center for much cheaper. Do a search on Ebay with quot;OLP Bassquot; if you wanna check them out. Honestly I wouldn't spend any less than 200 bucks on a bass because anything under that price mark is most likely gonna be garbage. Even if you have to drive to a music store once in a while to get your bass fill I'd say do that for a while, save up in the mean time, and get something a little better than you had originally planned. I have never really seen the point of buying a cheap instrument when you can just wait a few months and buy something a little bit better quality-wise. Hope that helps man.
here are a couple of auctions to check out:
