IIRC, there was a new noiseless pickup in some design stage that got sent around to several members, most (or all) of whom were pleased with it. Is there any word on when it might go to production, if at all? I was remembering what was said about it and I thought it sounded like a good candidate for my Strat.
Thanks
ok, one of the big name beta testers really liked that pickup and took it for his signature guitar. if it'll be named after this person is still a big question. the code name for it is quot;stack plus.quot; evan has not released any other info on when it'll be released or what. We are all still up in the air.
the big name beta tester's name will have nothing to do with the name of the pickup as far as I know...I had the pickups for about a week, and they are great...I really liked them alot. I did a pretty big shoot out that week an a half that included EMG's, Fender Noiseless (both Vintage and Hot) Lace Sensors, Kinmans, and a set of Joe Bardens...the quot;Stack Plusesquot; were my favs...when I last talked to Evan he was unsure about a release date...I can tell you that the closest thing to them Duncan has right now is the Classic Stack...
duncan's PR says nuno's siganature washburn model comes with those prototype single coils. is he the big name? is he big enough?
you chose these prototypes over kinman's! that says alot.
I have never used kinman's unfortunately. I have used fender's new SCN pickups designed with bill lawrance. I thought they were great. I imagine duncan can at least match those fender's!
can't wait!
I beta'ed the Stack Plus pickups and they are seriously the closest sounding noiseless Strat pickups I have ever heard. They are so good I'm buying a Strat to put them in.

can't wait! The kinmans were fantastic pickups, and just to let it be known...the Stack pluses were in my Jimmy Vaughan Strat and the Kinmans were in a buddy's Jimmy Vaughan Strat, so I feel that there were pretty much head to head, and it was a very fair shootout! There were things about the kinmans I liked, but the Duncans just had more punch, and more over all balls to the tone...

does that mean you KNOW they are coming out soon?

I thought the bridge and mid positions were exceptional on the stack pluses, not to mention the neck
I can put up with noise in my situation, but for those who need noiseless, these things will fill the bill
to me, TGWIF's test was the acid test
