It always seems I get stuff in right before I have to do something. I had a Doctor's Appointment at 3:00pm, and my Guitar came in at 2:30. I still managed to open it and give it a once over and the look and comfort was way better than I expected, I planned to replace the pickguard but it was fine.
The neck is practically perfect, the Switch to an 1-11/16 nut width is just what i was looking for. The frets are a lot smaller than my Showmaster but they don't bother me. The shorter scale is barely noticable but the flatter radius is was different than the 15.75 radius on my showmaster, but not in a bad way at all, totally usable.
The Finish damage to the back is a lot smaller than I thought, but it still goes to the bare wood (or so it seems), I don't know if I should get it repainted, I don't plan on Selling this so Value isn't really a problem. Cosmetically I couldn't care less but the wood being physically exposed worries me a little.
Unfortunately I left my cable and tuner at my friends house so I have a restrung guitar completely out of tune so I couldn't tell you how it sounded. The original owner put an X2n at the bridge and an Invader in the neck so that will probably come out but I'm going to give them a try. Worse comes to worse I sell them. I plan on getting some Bareknuckles. I'm thinking either a Crawler Set or an Emerald Set.
The Tp6 bridge will probably come out for a Tonepros Locking bridge because it just annoys me when a part can just come off like that, plus I hear about the loss of tone which I don't like.
The only thing that I have any gripe with is the nut. From the looks of it, it's brass. I didn't even know they made brass nuts. Unfortunately I think it was cut too shallow or just overall my action is wierd because I hear rattling on the Top E, and the top E pops out of the nut while playing. If anyone knows someone I can go to for this it would be great. I trust the local music store for doing Electronics, but I'd rather someone with a reputation for Setups do it.
Overall it was totally worth the $1,065 and then some. After feeling the comfort of the explorer I could definately be a One guitar shape man.......but I probably won't be.
These are the dealer's pictures, I don't have a camera right now:
