On an unrelated note...I've been told that adding the third pickup in series in positions 2 amp; 4 on a strat gives a sound best described as the stock positions on steroids.

My question is if anyone can verify this? I've never heard that combination before, anybody care describing the sound?

2: (N M)*B

4: (B M)*N

Just curious!

Well, my advice would be not to set positions 2 and 4 on the strat to be a series connection between those pickups because I love the positions 2 and 4 how they are... the best positions on a strat!

However, on my strat, I had a DPDT switch which when activated places the middle pickup in series with the bridge. Then, in positions 1 (bridge pickup) and 2(bright and middle in parallel), the bridge and middle are in series. There are plenty of ways to add pull switches to your knobs without losing the stock 2 and 4 positions.

As far as calling them the stock position on steriods, I guess that's fairly accurate but not really precise... it's beefed up, and the volume is increased, and the sound is a bit fatter.

Hope I helped
