Hi guys,
I finally ditched the crappy Digitech studio 100 unit that I was using through the fx loop of my 5150. What a major difference!!!! I had no idea that the studio 100 was colouring my sound so much. Everything sounded so much more defined and had more harmonics less compressed. I can actually hear the attack of my pick on the strings now and the decay of each note is more natural sounding.
Because the 5150 does not have any built in effects, I am having to play without reverb at the moment. :lt; I am looking for a good, clear-sounding multi-fx unit that does not color my sound. Primary effects that I use: Reverb, delay, and maybe some flanger/phaser effects, but that's it.
I am now very cautious of the low end digital rack fx and I am looking for something relatively higher end, but preferably not more than $500 or so. Any recommendations?
PS: I am not opposed to trying out stomp-box reverbs etc, but I heard that the Boss ones do color the sound and aren't as transparent as the higher end rackmounted units.
TC Electronics G-Major .
Thanks Slayer.... say.... you've got a lot of gear for a 14 yr old.
Well, I've been playing for 3 years, and I worked for every piece of it.
The key is: Buy low, sell high, save up, repeat.
G Major
G major, if you can get it, or cheaper, a boss vf-1...lots of good clean effects for about $180, in half rack space (digital out, too).
i've experienced that problem with reverb via stomp boxes, so I only use the reverb in my amp for that, and stomp boxes for Everything Else!Good luck finding a good unit that won't color ya too much.
Rock On!
Any other opinions? Lexicon PCM series? Yamaha? ART? ANy other brands I should consider?
If not, looks like the G-major it is then!!! You guys sure it won't colour my sound?
ART is terrible, i havent heard a single ART unit (are they even still around) that didnt sound like it was under a pillow...I owned one for years till I figured this out!
I now own Lexicon, Rocktron and TC electronics units and in the past I have owned or used stuff by Alesis ART and others.
The G Major is the unit guitar players have been asking for, for the last 20 years. Short of a diatonic harmonizer it's all in there. Tuner, EQ, variable noise gate, great digital effects, tons of programmability, switching out for your amp. The list of features is very long and the tone is excellent.
Unless you have big bucks for an Eventide, the G Major is the best under $500 unit around for guitar applications IMHO.
Thanks guys... will be on the lookout for a used G-major on ebay!!!
