I've considered re-buying a Tremolo pedal but want to steer clear of the Boss TR-2. At the present moment my only option is a Onerr Tremolo pedal, which is basically a copy of the TR-2 without the noticeable volume drop or tone sucking.

I was surfing the web last night and rediscovered/reconsidered the Dunlop TS-1 Tremolo. I'd buy it in a second because it's got that classic Tremolo sound advertised but I was wondering if the quot;SHAPEquot; control is the shaping of the LFO waveform from square to triangle? (sort of like the TR-2) Or is it some other kind of quot;shapequot; that I'm not aware of?

I ask this question because I'll use it for either slow trem or a quick stuttering effect, which I've found (correct me if I'm wrong) is only possible with the square waveform.

If the shape goes from square to triangle I'll buy it in a second!

Although I hear there are a few drawbacks to this pedal I've heard about but I forget them at the present moment. Anybody know about them? Any other opinions on the TS-1? Good buy? Bad buy?

I downloaded the manual on the Dunlop site and the pedal does indeed go to square wave territory. ( quot;Guerilla Radioquot; type stuttering: here I come again! )

Even though I've figured that out anybody got any opinions on the TS-1?

Anyway, if there's no further replies to this thread I'll post a review in a few days!

hi there
I have never tried the dunlop tremolo, but as no-one else has commented i thought i'd just chime in to say that i have a round-up of lots of tremolo pedals in a UK magazine called 'What Guitar' from an issue about a year ago. The Dunlop comes out best and the round up also includes some expensive pedals like the fulltone supa-trem and voodoo lab tremolo.
It also says this about the shape which you might be interested in:
'The sine wave is true to its name and creates a lovely sweep - when the points of silence are reached at the lowest point of the tremolo cycle, the cut-off of the sound is silent. The square wavesharply cuts the signal, as it should do, but there is some clipping when the speed is increased'.

Hope this helps

zak

I anticipated some clipping. I used to own a Boss TR-2 and it clipped pretty bad when I maxed the speed control out. Thanks!
