I've got one that's a 59 from my fender big apple strat, are those considered floor shop customs? I'd like one in a jazz.

LukePsssst,

Flip the magnet.

I'm not sure what you mean. A humbucker is by definition a regular coil on one side with an RWRP coil on the other.

Actually, I think the two coils of a humbucker are wound the same direction. They're connected in series, out-of-phase, so that external noise is cancelled. Since the magnet lays underneath with the north pole on one coil, and the south pole on the other, the signal generated by the strings is out-of-phase, which is put back in-phase by the OoP coils.

I think.

Yes, I knew to flip the mag, but I wasn't sure if I could wire it (the pup) backwards to cancel hum in a combined split position.

Thanks fellas.

Luke

When you speak of flipping the magnet, do you do it side to side (bridge side flipped over to neck side) or longways (treble side flipped to bass side)?

It will have to be longways.

Or wait... I'll check that with a magnet

I was planning on flipping it on both ax-es.

Luke

Ok it's got to be side to side flip... at least my magnet test has shown this...

flip it like a pancake, not rotate like a propeller
