Hi everyone,

I have a WCR Fillmore in the bridge of my McCarty and love it - it is big and full, with good bite. It is pretty thick but I am not into the Fillmore neck pickup because it seems too hot for my tastes at about 11k and actually makes a great bridge pickup. At least in my dark Mccarty, the Fill neck is not working.

I am trying to find a nice and clear, yet smooth neck pickup to match the Fillmore bridge. I remember I had issues in the past finding a good match for the Rio BBQ because it was so thick that it made most neck pickups sound thin, although the 59 did pretty well.

I am thinking a 59 or PG may be just right.

Any help?

Thanks!

I'd say the jazz, it works great in darker guitars.

Doesnt have a lot of drive to it, but it gets cleans like no other. Some people complain that it doesn't hold up well under high gain, but I havent found this to be a problem. All personal tastes pretty much.

Thanks for the input! Gearjoneser says the same for the Jazz n the Mccarty. I was listening to the sound samples page and to my ears it seems like the Pearly Gates may have the right amount of drive for leads and clearity for ryhthm and clean. I use the neck with the bridge pickup for some crunch ryhthm.

I have a PRS Dragon II neck sitting around but I wanted to stick with my two favorite pickup companies, WCR and Duncan. I haven't been back to Rio Grande in a while.
