I'm wanting to buy a new amp and am stuck on four amps: Fender Stage 1600, Line 6 Spider II 212, Marshall MG250DFX, and Randall RG200G2. I like rock, hard rock, and metal. I also want it to have a good clean vintage sound and the best sounding distortion for all of these types of music. Which one of these amps would sound the best for what I like?

THANKS.

Personally, I would rule out the Marshall. I don't think their MG Series' distortion sounds good at all. I have had good luck with my Fender (a smaller version of the older model of the 1600.) and I have liked the sounds I've gotten out of Randalls for Metal anyway.

Tone is subjective, just because I like something, doesn't mean you will....

I'd play all 4 and see which one sounds best....Other than that, I don't really like any of those amps, so I can't offer an opinion.

I don't know much about those amps. Are you basing your purchase on price? Carvin makes the sx-200 which is very nice and the combo is $300. You can get the amp with celestion v30s for $400. You can buy the more versatile sx300 head for $300.
