Dean ML 79

So I want to buy this guitar I think. It seems like I would enjoy it, I keep going for these really jagged designs. But I'm not sure if I want to go back to a traditional Super Strat (Jackson Soloist, Charvel). I keep looking at this Dean, because of its look and the way its built. It looks very oustanding. I would jerk those pickups out and drop some SDs in it for sure.

But I don't know, I'm really just wanting to get about 2 main axes, that means bye bye Schecter Omen 006, bye bye RR3 (maybe).

Or maybe I'm talking nonesense, but my question is. Any bad wraps with this Dean, no stereotypical talk, just factual information about it. Personally I'd like to find a model with a floyd rose. But dime had one installed on his.

Man and those soloists look sweet ya know. I'm kind of wanting to just make purchases on the big instruments, make it more of an investment.

So therefore my Strat stays and now I just need to add another wicked axe to the collection.

So super strat, or dean.

Listen...Dean gets a bad rap from a lot of folks because of body shape...but mainly because of the headstock. The bottom line is that Dean builds a fantastic guitar. I took the plunge and bought a Dean Hardtail (USA model), and it's a fantastic guitar. I have had ZERO issues with it.

I've even played a few of the Korean models, and they are very much on par with the quality of Dean's USA stuff. I would not hesitate to purchase one if you like the guitar. Is the one you're looking at USA made or Korean? I can't remember where the 79' series if made, but I know that they are great guitars for the $$.

If it wasn't for the funny headstock on most, and the body shape....Dean would be recoginized on par with Hamer for top quality USA built products.

Yeah Dean has some very good quality work but many think the stock pickups completely suck. However most people i know that play Deans just replace the pickups and they sound awesome

Well it was the construction of the instrument that got my attention. But I'm just wanting to add a very sweet axe to the collection. I keep looking at Jackson Soloists too, maybe even a Charvel.

I want a solid body, or set neck guitar for sure. To get a Charvel thats black with gold hardware. Thats something I would probably take an interest in.

I think the Dean would be a better addition

they do make one with a floyd its the dime tribute ML in the brazillia burst. has a seymour duncan dimebucker in teh bridge spot. i believe its around 850 ish i dunno maybe a little more. heres the link its called a dimebag FAR BEYONG DRIVEN TRIBUTE ML. from : localhost/maybe the links this one from : localhost/both LOL

i dunno.....the FBD seems like kind of a ripoff seeing as the '79 F ML, which is the '79 ML from the first post, but with a floyd, is a lot cheaper than the FBD and is very very similar.

Yea I've seen the Dime Tribute, and yes it looks like a sweet rig. But I'd like to hit up the Dean 79' and get the floyd installed like he did. I think it would be much cheaper, or just keep the tone-pros in it. I was planning on putting some duncans in it anyway.

So everybody recommending the Dean, you don't think I should go for the more $$$ pricey Jackson Soloist or Charvels or anything?

i think the dean should be damn good

Yea me too, I'm not doubting it. Randy Rhoads, Dime, Billy Gibbons, etc. all played some Deans. Now how would I go about ordering this, obviously I would need to order this on the internet somewhere. Any recommendations, because I know alot of kids are hating the shipping UPS and well anybody provides, and indeed they do suck.

But I mean I've looked for these Dean ML's especially one I've wanted, and well the image is at the top of this thread, but is it safe to say I can order from them and be satisfied?

i reccomend music123 from : localhost/www.music123.com/Dean-79-ML-i124249.music

Hmm, wonder why the Trans Brazil Burst is cheaper the Trans Brazilla. How big of a difference is that, ones transparent? The price is changing for the same design and paint job on the Classic. Whats the deal with that?

Oh man as much I like that guitar(DIME PUT IT ON THE MAP LIKE NO OTHER). There is no way in HELL that you will see me onstage with it. Unless you could do that guitar justice or keep it for novelty sake. R.I.P.

With that said....I wouldn't mind getting the Dean V or explorer version!

Yea the Explorer (Z) version, I keep thinking about getting that one too for the whole Hetfield look and feel. Cause I sure do love me some old school metallica. It ticks me off that he made his signature after the eclipse and not with the explorer.

Sigh....

theyre legally not allowed to. gibson sued them long ago

I recently bought a Dean 79ri V. It's a good guitar. It's taken me a little while to get used to since I've always been a Strat kinda guy. A couple things I've noticed about it and have heard from other 79ri owners.

The necks are filthy. Really. I've read a number of HC reviews that attest to this and it was true of mine as well. It's almost like a fine, oily dust that settled on the neck. I don't know if it happend during assembly, shipping, or what. It's easy enough to clean up but you'll definitely need to spend some time cleaning and setting it up.

The craftsmenship is really good. It's a simple enough guitar with no fancy inlays or anything and the body is essentially one big, uncontoured slab so I don't imagine it's extremely difficult to build. But they do a good job nonetheless. No problems with mine at all.

It sounds great. The stock pickups are actually really decent and the tone offers a nice, middy growl that the HSS Strat can't quite match. It can get close but there's something about a set neck and a big ol' slab of mahogany that'll take you into chunkier territory.

Chunky sounds like something I would want. But I think an explorer would be nice to own too. I reckon I'm drifting into gibson territory, I've only played an explorer once and it was rather awkward for me, being a strat kid. Took me a while to get used to, but man I'd like to have it for the appeal of the instrument.

Sweet, I still don't know what I'm doing.
