Hey guys. I just got my hands on an Ibanez RG7620 a few weeks ago. Do I have to purchase pickups specificaly designed for 7 string guitars? If so, are there any websites that specialize in 7 Strings? Also, would I be able to order a set of EBMM pickups that are the same ones that are used in Petrucci's EBMM 7 string models? Thanks for the help guys!

Yes you need special 7 string pickups. about the JP pickups. I doubt you can. Somebody should confirm that soon.

hehe you can use a 6-string pickup, but you won't pickup one of the strings

i have a 7621, and i just got a 7-string JB for it.. you'll have to look long and hard to find one in stock! i used ebay.. has some great bits of info on 7-strings, especially 7621s and 7620s! the stock pups are awful!

Stay away from the JPMM pickups, even if you can get a line on them.

If you don't want to go active, I'd go with a Blaze or Blaze custom bridge and an Air Norton neck.and a big 1 to sevenstring.org!!
