...Start using 300k pots?

Gibson uses 300k pots?

I know they have.

I thought they figured out they suck with the PAF style humbuckers and P-90s.

I don't think they still come with 300k pots (do they?), Im just trying to find out when they started doing it...

If my memory is correct, the did use 300k in the past, then went to 500k, then back to 300k. Now I think it's a matter of what model you get with what pickups. I'm not 100% sure of that though. If not, well, this will keep this one at the top of the page for a Gibson guru to chime in on.

the 91 studio i got had 300k pots

my 98 LP STD had them as well with the 490's that it came with.

my '04 explorer has 300k volume pots amp; a 500k tone pot

Hmmm. I had a 90' Studio. I changed the PuPs a few times. It sounded good,But there was always something (for lack of a better word) OFF! About it? I never even thought to check the pot value's. Don't matter anymore...That Guitar is long gone.

first thing i did was change em out to 500k pots. made a whole world of difference for the better IMO. i decided to hang on to the 300 k's though since everyone figure they are useless and throw em away, maybe years from now they will bring big money from the quot;originalquot; parts nuts like i see on ebay bidding ungodly amounts for original pots, truss rod covers and other small parts from 50's and 60's pauls.

around july 1973. i'ved read it from here:
