I decided I want to get an 8 track recorder. I dont know which to get though. Preferably digital with a hard drive.
Can anyone recommend one?
Is the Boss BR-1180 any good?
Thanks for the help!

get a behringer mixer with more than eight tracks and record onto a computer. thats my 2 cents.

Well, I want something portable.

Thats why you get a laptop and a firewire drive!

I like the Yamaha AW16G a lot. It's under a grand, is packed with features, and is generally bullet-proof.

1 I can't overstate the value of pc recording. The sheer editing power is completely worth any inconvenience it might come with.

11, Since I started using a modest setup on my PC, I try to avoid the entry-level DAW's if at all possible. Even on the rare occasions that I use the BR864 in a remote enviornment, we still come back to the house, play the not-so-good recording to regain a feel for the song, then fire up Cubasis and do it right.... As it has been said before, the sheer editting capabilities is worth any quot;inconveniencequot;. Besides, I have never been able to manage 32 tracks in real time on anything other than a PC for less that $500. Not counting the cost of the PC, obviously.

The problem is I dont have a computer in the room where I have all my equipment, so I cant record without a portable system.
